Set in the heart of the charming village of Niton, you’ll find everything you need close by, from the local shop and post office to a selection of welcoming pubs, restaurants and independent businesses. It’s the perfect place to slow down, explore and enjoy the relaxed pace of Island life.
For those who love getting outdoors, The White Lion is ideally placed for exploring some of the Isle of Wight’s most beautiful walking routes. Step outside and discover peaceful countryside, spectacular coastal views, chalk-white cliffs and miles of open farmland.
One of our favourite walks is the journey up to St Catherine’s Oratory, affectionately known by Islanders as the ‘Pepperpot’. Standing proudly on one of the highest points on the Island, this historic medieval lighthouse offers spectacular views across the surrounding countryside and coastline. It is a wonderful spot to pause, take in the scenery and appreciate the beauty of the Isle of Wight.
A little note about Monday and Tuesday stays
If you are staying with us on a Monday or Tuesday, please be aware that The White Lion pub is closed on these days, so accommodation is offered on a room-only basis.
Don’t worry – we will make sure your arrival is straightforward and will contact you in advance with everything you need to know about checking in, as there will be no team members on site during these days.
If you would like to enjoy a delicious meal while staying with us, we are also delighted to recommend our sister pub, The Chequers Inn in Rookley, just around three miles away. It’s another welcoming Wight Pubs venue and a great place to enjoy good food and a relaxed atmosphere.
